NORTH Somerset residents looking for a job or a new challenge can find out more about working in the care industry during a care provider’s recruitment drive this month (October, 2017).
Notaro Homecare (NHC) will be at the Job Centre on the High Street in Weston-super-Mare on Thursday, October 19 from 9am until 5pm to meet people interested in working in care.
Vickie Middle, Branch Manager at NHC, which was recently one of three providers to be awarded the final care contract for homecare provision across North Somerset for the next seven years, said: “We are currently on a recruitment drive and want to meet as many people as possible who might be interested in a new challenge and taking on a career in care.
“People can come and meet us at the Job Centre and find out what it’s like to work in the industry and how rewarding it can really be. We’ll also talk them through all of the training and career advancement opportunities we offer so they can see how they can really make this a vocation in life.”
New carers who join the team will take part in a regulated training programme including emergency first aid or first aid at work, safe handling of medicines, moving and handling of people, health and safety, fire safety, safeguarding adults, infection control and food hygiene.
Each new carer will be shadowed by a senior member of the team for a minimum of one week. Thereafter they are regularly supervised and observed delivering care in the homes of service users.
New members of the team are encouraged to complete their NVQ L2 (QCF) Health & Social Care, if they don’t already hold the qualification or NVQ L3 if they are looking to become a senior carer.
